First off, let's talk about our model.  This is Molly.  She is a 51 lb. Labradoodle.  The size we used for this technique works with dogs that are a similar weight and size to her.  You will need to be creative to achieve the same results with dogs that are smaller or larger than her. 

Step 1. Locate an old V-neck sweater that you are throwing away or donating.  A size small from the junior department is the perfect fit for Molly.  If you have a smaller dog, you will need an item for a child.   In order for this to be completely free, you will need to use an article of clothing that you are looking to discard.  If you do not have the size that fits your pet, you can visit the local thrift shop and pick one up for a small fee.  The V-Neck style sweaters with buttons in the front make it easy for you to put on the dog.

Step 2. Using the Free Dog Clothes, Slip the sweater over your dogs head.  Take each of the two front legs and insert them through the sweater's are holes. 

Step 3.  If your Sweater has snaps or buttons, button the sweater up for a snug fit.

Step 4.  You may need to roll up the sleeves of the sweater if they are too long for your dog.  Once you have found the perfect length, remove the sweater from your dog being careful to keep the sleeves at their proper length.

Step 5.  Sew the rolled up sleeves so that they will not come undone from their position.  This is needed so that the sleeves do not trip the dog as they are running or playing in their new dog clothes.
